24.02.2011: Industry addresses skills shortage by itself

For the time being, it is up to the companies to find appropriate solutions to the skills shortage. A little more than 60% of the affected companies in the micro- and nanotechnology industry have already taken measures to counteract the skills shortage. Many companies are taking it into their own hands to educate their future employees, for example by offering more post for graduates, interns or trainees. Many companies are offering individual and specific on-the-job training. Or they are conducting appraisals and/or employee satisfaction surveys in order to retain their staff.
