From February 10-12, Anaheim, CA, was host to the largest medical technology trade show in the USA for the 30
th time. About 2,000 exhibitors presented their products to approximately 50,000 visitors on more than 32,000 m² of space. Placed in the specifically created area “Micro Nanotech”, IVAM was present with a joint booth for 14 companies. Other IVAM members, such as Invenios, Sensirion and Specialty Coating Systems displayed their products at individual booths.
California is the ideal place for suppliers to showcase their medical technology products in the USA. 2012 alone saw an investiment of $2 billion in Life Science businesses, 23% of all newly FDA approved drugs are manufactured here and the National Institute of Health subsidizes 15% of all nationwide development projects in California. German medical technology businesses find their most important customers here. Manufacture and processing technologies for medical device materials, such a polymers and others plastics, metal alloys, glass, silicon or 3D structuring for medical components acted as focus topics. Additionally, functional coatings with antimicrobial properties, smart textiles, e-health solutions and innovative monitoring systems were part of the exhibition.
The exhibition was complemented by an interesting conference program with topics like Internet of Things, 3D printing or packaging. The organizers were able to attract gripping speakers with the likes of AMAZON VP Dr Babak Parviz or Jiani Zhan, VP of IBM. The most innovative products were crowned with the Golden Mousetrap Awards.
In 2016, IVAM will provide a larger booth with improved visibility, located near the attractive „Tech Theater“. In addition to the usual trade show services, IVAM will organize B2B meetings with partner organizations and offer co-exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their products in talks.
