The ongoing standardization activities in the field of microfluidics have an ulterior motive: those responsible want to shorten the time to market and increase the quality of microfluidic products. For this reason, the focus is currently on microfluidic connections, assembly and metrology. A standard connection for valves, pumps and other microfluidic components is under discussion, which should solve the problem of incompatible connection systems.
At the next digital meeting of the IVAM Focus Group Microfluidic, we therefore want to discuss the topic of "Standardization in Microfluidics". The meeting will take place digitally on Wednesday, 12 October 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (CEST).
Henne van Heeren, Enabling MNT, and Florestan Ogheard, CETIAT, representing the Microfluidics Association (MFA), will talk about "Standardization in Microfluidics - What can microfluidics standardization do for you?". They will specify requirements for seamless integration with other microfluidic components and systems to simplify the process of developing new microfluidic devices (e.g. microfluidic chips, sensors, actuators, connectors).
Subsequently, Jonas Boye, DIN, will give an overview of current projects in the ISO committee "Microfluidic Devices", possible DIN projects (dwell time distribution) and advantages as well as prerequisites for participation in DIN and ISO committees in his presentation on "Standardization activities in the field of microfluidics".
The presentations will provide a basis for discussions on the topic of standardization in microfluidics and give the fundament for a possible cooperation of the Microfluidics Focus Group with the MFA and DIN.
In the second part of the meeting, further activities of the section will be coordinated.
Participation
The necessary dial-in data for the Zoom video conference will be sent out shortly before the event!
Participation in IVAM specialist group meetings is free of charge for association members. Non-members may participate three times for a fee. In this case we charge an administration fee of 50,00 € (plus VAT), which is also due in case of non-participation. Of course, it is possible to register a substitute participant at any time and without additional costs.
