Specialty Coating Systems, Inc. (SCS), a producer in Parylene and liquid conformal coating services and technologies, celebrates its company’s 50th Anniversary.
In August of 1971, Nova Tran Corporation registered as a business license for Parylene coating. Nova Tran was later acquired by Union Carbide Corporation and was combined with several other companies to form Specialty Coating Systems in 1991. The original Nova Tran operation in Clear Lake remains one of SCS’ largest coating centers today.
Over the past 50 years, SCS has been a key innovator, developing products and technologies in the conformal coatings industry. SCS provides industry-leading coating services to over a thousand customers around the world in the medical device, electronics, transportation, aerospace and defense industries.

Today, SCS operates 20 state-of-the-art coating facilities around the world, 9 in the Americas, 7 in Asia and 4 in Europe.
