Successful SensorNetwork³ symposium in Dortmund highlighted sensor technology as a key technology

Feb 5, 2025

The SensorNetwork³ Symposium brought together experts from industry, research and politics at the DASA in Dortmund in mid-January to discuss current developments and future challenges in sensor technology.

Sensors as Enablers for the Energy Transition and Future Mobility

A key topic of the symposium was the role of sensors in the energy transition. In particular, discussions highlighted how sensor technology is essential for hydrogen-based solutions, improving efficiency and safety. However, regulatory frameworks and public perception still pose challenges that need to be addressed to unlock the full potential of hydrogen.

The future of mobility was another major focus: Innovative sensor applications are advancing traffic monitoring, contactless vital data detection, and quantum-based cybersecurity. Smart solutions such as intelligent guideposts for traffic control and radar-based asphalt analysis were showcased as cutting-edge developments in infrastructure optimization.

World Café focused on hydrogen technologies and promoting innovation

One highlight of the symposium was the World Café, where participants engaged in in-depth discussions on key industry challenges. Topics included investment readiness in hydrogen technologies and the impact of political regulations on technological progress.

Solutions for sustainable transformation

The SensorSymposium once again demonstrated that sensor technology is an essential driver of sustainable transformation in industry and society. The key takeaway: Innovations are ready – now the right framework conditions must be created for rapid implementation. The event was organized by the IVAM Microtechnology Network in cooperation with the partner networks detect and the AMA Association for Sensors and Measurement.
