To formally inaugurate the center, Dr. Alberto Bustani Adem, President of Tecnológico de Monterrey, signed two memorandums of understanding: one with mikroglas chemtech GmbH, represented by its CEO, Dr. Thomas Dietrich, Chairman of the German Industry Consortium on Micro Reaction Technology, and with Prof. Dr. Holger Löwe from the University of Mainz, Director of the Institute of Microtechnology, Mainz.
Prof. Löwe and Dr. Dietrich are the first members of the Advisory Board of the new Center and will help to install new technology within research and education. Tec de Monterrey has already purchased a micro reaction plant from IMM for biodiesel production and announced already to invest in three multiple-synthesis pilot plants from mikroglas.
Chemical Micro Processing can surely contribute to a modernization of the Mexican chemical industry. IMM and mikroglas have been working in this field for more than ten years now, developing advanced micro reactors as well as laboratory equipment and production plants. The cooperation with Tec de Monterrey is planned to be the start of an increasing engagement in the Central and South American countries.
