FISBA OPTIK has been a world leader in optical systems for over fifty years and advises and assists its customers with everything from feasibility studies through system design up to series production. In recent years, FISBA has developed and produced a variety of laser modules with wavelength coupling. Subsequent further development and miniaturization resulted in the light engine FISBA RGBeam. This product provides the customer with a simple entry route into the technology and can be used and customized for applications in a wide range of industries.

Free-space light sources and fiber-coupled light sources are used in many different industries. The lighting module can be customized as a light source, for example for head-up displays in automobiles. Advantages compared with LED applications include the brilliance and efficiency of the laser diode. Further advantages are high brightness and higher contrast. In the life sciences field, the three color frequencies can be mixed to create white laser-based light for fiber-coupled lighting applications.

Beside of these applications FISBA RGBeam can also be adapted for UV lighting. This simple way of coupling laser wavelengths in the 375 to 405 nm range provides efficient, high-performance UV lighting. The improved focusing ability and relatively high intensities are very useful in curing and drying polymers. These UV sources can be used to excite fluorescent markers. To name but two applications: making hidden markings visible and differentiating between similarly colored packaging and labels. Thanks to precise wavelength coupling within 0.1 mrad, the light can be efficiently coupled in multimode fibers and accurately carried to the application. Industrial metrology is another industry in which the FISBA RGBeam plays an important role. The simple formation of the laser beams allows FISBA RGBeam to be used as a light source for reflection measurements. Thanks to high luminous intensity, the laser module is suitable for lighting smaller objects in high-speed visualization processes.

With dimensions of 20.5 x 12.2 x 5 mm, the laser module takes up a minimum of space and is correspondingly light in weight. These characteristics make it extremely suitable for portable applications, e.g. handheld devices. In addition to the open-space beam, the light can be coupled in small multimode fibers and easily positioned with scanning mirrors. One application is pico projection.

The plus points of the FISBA RGBeam light engine are clear. Compared with halogen lamps or LEDs, it produces coherent and punctual illumination. Lasers allow fiber coupling with very little loss of optical performance. Due to easy light bundling higher optical efficiency in fiber coupling can be reached in comparison to LEDs. Despite the compact size of the module, its brilliance and luminous intensity are compelling compared with conventional light sources.
