Fraunhofer IMM will present a microfluidic platform device for the fast detection of the virological infection status, e.g. for various serotypes of influenza and several coronaviruses. Another focus will be on a fully automated instrument for the isolation of single CTCs (circulating tumor cells) from human blood exhibited in augmented reality. Furthermore rigid and flexible multisite microelectrode arrays for neural signal recording and stimulation as well as a silicon based 3D force sensor for tactile sensing will be shown.Our scientists are engaged in research and development in the fields of Energy, Chemistry and Diagnostics. The emphasis is on hydrogen-based energy supply, sustainable chemistry and process analysis as well as personalized diagnostics and liquid biopsy. We provide solutions for hydrogen supply relying on a compact and dynamic approach that is well suited for mobile applications. Doing so we use catalytic processes and, increasingly, renewable fuels. We use structured reactors and continuous processing to precisely control and intensify chemical processes. We create efficient solutions for the extraction and enrichment of relevant biomarkers for automated and personalized precision diagnostics in the laboratory and also on site. With our development work we achieve an essential contribution to the societal challenges “secure, clean and efficient energy”, “climate action, environment and resource efficiency” as well as “health”.
